What competitions/events are you looking forward to next year?

Teva Mountain Games in Vail, Colorado where they put on a stand up paddle downriver race in class II-III rapids.  I am also looking forward to touring the globe with my SUP Fitness Boot Camps!

What was your best day on the ocean this year?

Spending time with team Starboard in northern California for a photo shoot.  We surfed in Santa Cruz and paddled out to Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.

What is the craziest thing you experienced this year?

I had quite a beatdown at Punto De Lobos outside of Pichilemu, Chile.  I made the mistake of trying to follow Dan out to the lineup of this heavy wave and got dragged toward the cliffs by the strong current.  I got pounded by waves into the rocks and cliff walls unable to get back to safety.  I managed to get myself out without a scratch on me or my board, but MAN I was scared!

What paddling related accomplishment are you most proud of?

There are many, but I caught the biggest wave I’ve ever ridden on my SUP at Steamer Lane this last year in Santa Cruz.

What are your plans for the 2010-11 year?

Traveling the globe doing SUP Fitness Clinics, Training, Competing, Surfing, Running Rivers and meeting as many stand up paddlers as possible!

When you were coming up, what paddlers inspired you?

Ikaika Kalama and Candice Appleby.  I am inspired by people who charge and just go for it.

Why did you choose Starboard?

Starboard has the widest range of boards and technology that I have seen. There is a board for every discipline of SUP that I like to do including fitness, surfing, whitewater, racing, and downwind paddling. Starboard is not afraid to explore new designs and technology: always pushing the limits of SUP all over the globe. I am proud to be part of and have support from the Starboard family!

Tell us about your quiver? / Which board is your favorite?

For racing and downwinders- Surfrace; For surfing- 8’5 Pocket Rocket; For Fitness- NRG Trainer; For the rapids- the Whopper; For cruising- 11’2 Blend

SUP has given you the chance to travel the world. Out of all travels, which one has been the most memorable?

Pucon, Chile.

If we pressed play on your I-Pod what song would be playing?

Deadmau5 for paddling/training or an audiobook if I’m on the road
